The Sea Survival Course
This comprehensive one day course could save your life and that of the other people on board your vessel. It is a prerequisite for the RYA / MCA commercial endorsement and is for both pleasure and commercial boat users.
The morning is spend 'ashore' in the classroom examining various liferafts and their contents; designs and use of lifejackets, as well as flares and other equipment available to signal distress. Preparation and principals of survival and the search and rescue services will also be discussed during this morning session.
The course is very practically orientated and includes several hours in an indoor pool during the afternoon practicing launching, boarding and using a liferaft, righting a capsized liferaft, using your lifejacket and helping injured persons.
Participants are required to wear a full set of clothing whilst in the pool together with their lifejacket. However you are encouraged to wear your normal set of waterproofs together with boots and lifejacket to gain valuable confidence. You may also use this as an opportunity to test your lifejacket's inflation mechanism, or we can remove the gas bottle and inflate it orally if you so wish.
Participants receive the excellent RYA Sea survival
practical course notes book together with their certificate at the end of the course.
